Debra Clancy

Debra has spent her life in Cairns and Brisbane and now lives in beautiful North Qld once again.  Whilst enjoying art in high school, it was not until 2000 that she picked up a pencil and started drawing again.  Art classes inspired a passion for painting which remained a hobby in between full-time work and busy family life.

Life changes in 2014 opened up opportunities to scale back the working life and spend more time on pursuing her painting.  Moving to Hinchinbrook in 2015 has and will enhance this even further.

“I have a great love of the beach and water particularly in the tropics.  This is reflected in many of my paintings to date being illustrations of places I have travelled to and loved.  I have worked with acrylics and oils in the past, however, now prefer to work with charcoal and water based oils.  Portraits start with a charcoal drawing and are finished in oils.”

“It is important to me that my paintings mean something – a memory, a future place to visit or just a happy moment.    We live in a wonderful part of the world in North Qld and I’m sure the amazing landscapes and wildlife in the Hinchinbrook area will feature in future works”

Linda Bates is a very creative potter - she makes quirky and wonderful pottery creations . Linda specialises in small sculptures of wonderful local birds....
