Heather Edwards

Artist with a love of plants & flowers

 Artist Profile

Heather moved to Cardwell in May 2022 from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland where she has spent most of her life. She says that the move north is now allowing her to spend time on her three passions - art, gardening and playing piano. She joined Hinchinbrook Regional Arts – Cardwell Gallery in 2022 and will hold her first solo exhibition in December 2022.

“I am very fortunate to have an art studio overlooking the water to Hinchinbrook Island and surrounds. I liked to draw as a child, but it wasn't until 2001 that I picked up my pencils and paints again. I exhausted the local library supply of art technique books in my free time from work. My love of plants, nature and gardening soon became the focus of my paintings”.

Heather works primarily in watercolour and she uses coloured pencil to define the details in her subject. She sometimes uses mixed media when she is looking for a more contemporary and carefree approach.
